My only agenda is to competently represent the interests of the people of the Fifth Congressional District of Massachusetts within the guidelines of the Constitution of the United States of America.
• I do not take a fight lightly. I am a student of the philosophy "Do not fight unless you plan to win". As my dear old Pa put it, "If you don't put your heart into the fight, you're going to get your ass kicked". That may have been how he came out of 44 months of combat in WWII almost unscathed with 3 Bronze Stars. I know that his spirit is supporting me. I am my father's son.
• I am a very independent person who is very frank and open (often to a fault; I have been referred to as cocky)
• I have an aversion to prevarication (I have been known to spin a tall tale at times in jest or antagonism)
• I am normally very patient unless I feel that I am being provoked
• I am very disappointed in the recent governmental policies and the direction that it appears the present government is taking us. I agree that change has been needed (and still is) but the changes desired by the present powers are too much, too rapid and in the wrong direction.
• I do not believe that it is a function the governments to take care of us. I believe that the function of government is to maintain a safe and free environment and encourage a robust economic system that encourages all citizens to pursue a free, rewarding, productive, and happy existence.
• I am no different than you. I am your neighbor. I have worked hard and saved for 50 years and am retired in a modest home, trying to get by paying too high mortgage, taxes, utilities, etc., hoping to be able to enjoy the fruits of my labor in a modest retirement. I do not have a winter home in Florida or summer home on the 'Cape'. We don't have a housekeeper so I clean the house every Friday as my wife still works as a cashier and baby-sits for friends 2 days a week, helping them to reduce expenses. I am also getting very adept with the crockpot as I do all of the grocery shopping and most of the cooking. I do a wicked pot roast, not to mention a great rye bread and corn bread.
• I am unwavering in my pride to be an American and I consider the Constitution of the United States to be the definition of Americanism. I consider any act that evades the Constitution an anti-American activity. Most of what Congress does falls into this category. I do not believe that the people of the fifth district are being proprly represented in national government in accordance with the Constitution. I do personally live with the shame that my government supports a national policy of allowing the termination of America's future in the womb.
• NOTE: I refer to myself (and always have) as an American, not "white" American or "Irish" American. I am proud of my heritage and find it quite interesting to trace it but I am first, last and foremost an American. As I think everyone will agree, using the terms "white" or "Irish" implies intended fundamental divisiveness.
